Most definitely. A good percentage of our larger work involves patients who live abroad, mainly the UK, Italy, Scandinavia, North Africa and Russia. Most of the work involves advanced implant treatment. We feel that the main reason for this successful part of our unit is the financial savings patients make when the work involves a larger number of implants. We are able to organize accommodation at favourable rates in a 4 or 5 star hotel that are next door to our Practice. These rates are truly fantastic during the off peak season. |

Yes, The Dental and Implantology Unit uses fully computerized radiography that works in tandem with the patients computerized notes. Each surgery has a wall mounted X-ray machine so that no patient has to be moved for intra-oral radiographs. Besides these, a pan-oral radiographic machine is also available. The hospital’s radiography department is fully digitalized. A brand new multi-slice CT Scanner and MRI are also used, the former allowing us to integrate the information with our 3D implant planning software for computer guided surgery. |

We feel that all our chair-side support staff should be trained. Up to recently, Malta did not have a training facility for chair-side support staff so we relied on overseas trained personnel who live in Malta as well as sponsoring local people to obtain their diploma from overseas training centres. To date, all have done extremely well and we are very happy and proud with this achievement. |

Yes. During working hours we do our best to see emergencies as soon as possible. An ‘out of hours’ service is also available for emergencies but it does incur a ‘call out fee’. Fortunately, for one and all, there are few true emergencies. |

Dental amalgam is considered a safe, affordable and durable material that has been used to restore the teeth of millions of people. It contains a mixture of metals such as silver, copper and tin, in addition to mercury, which chemically binds these components into a hard, stable and safe substance. There has been a healthy debate of the safety of amalgam over the last two decades. Amalgam has been studied and reviewed extensively, and has established a record of safety and effectiveness. Depending on treatment needs and patient wishes, it is one material available to dentists and patients when considering restorative options. All chairs within our unit contain amalgam separators and the waste is managed by a clinical waste company. |

Yes, the Unit is wheelchair accessible, extra wide doors have been fitted to accommodate wheelchairs. Two of the surgeries have extra space behind the dental chair plus removable headrests to allow some patients to be comfortably treated in their own wheelchair if needed. |
