Dr. Mark S Diacono RGN, BChD Hons(Leeds), FDS RCPS(Glasg)
Mark qualified as a nurse in 1986 in Leeds and worked in intensive care at
the Leeds General Infirmary. Soon after, he enrolled as a dental student at
Leeds University and left with an honours degree in 1991. He joined the
Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Leeds Dental Institute and St James
University Hospital. In 1993, he moved to the Maxillofacial, Burns and
Plastic Surgery Unit at Pinderfields Hospital, obtained his FDS in 1995 and
registration as a specialist soon after.
Through a Royal College grant, he
furthered his studies in implantology in Sweden. In 1996, Mark was awarded
a locum consultant post at Pinderfields, working mainly with trauma and implant patients. Mark moved to Malta in 1998 and set up the Dental and
Implantology Unit at St James Hospital but carried on working in the UK as a
locum consultant up to 2005. His main interest is advanced implant surgery
and bone grafting procedures. He has lectured extensively in the UK, Malta and overseas and is now a guest lecturer for the world's largest implant company, Straumann.
