TREFOIL - Frankfurt October 2017
08 November 2017
Nobel Biocare invited a group of experts to Frankfurt for their course on Trefoil. Dr. Mark Diacono was invited to attend along with 25 other specialists from across Europe. Trefoil is a system whereby three implant are used to support a complete bridge in patients who have no teeth or are about to loose all their teeth in the lower jaw. It uses pre-fabricated components that have been designed to fit over 95% of patients. This means that the construction of the bridgework should be faster and cheaper for patients.
Trefoil has evolved from a previous system, Novum, that was popular at the turn of the millennium for a decade. It has been shown that over the years, Novum bridges remained very successful, so experts from 5 centres re-designed the product to improve its function and research to date has been very promising. Mark was asked to join the group as he had used Novum extensively and successfully. The one day symposium included lectures and hands-on practical sessions. A great event and a wonderful opportunity to meet up with friends the UK. Nobel Biocare will supply Trefoil to specialists who are trained to use it. Glad to say that Mark will be providing this service.
